Orange Crush 2013

Sunday, December 1st, 2013

Sarah and I participated in Orange Crush this year. It’s an annual charity event in which gamers sign up to paint models from a Warmachine/Hordes army with a theme of the color orange. The armies are then raffled off with all proceeds going to hunger-related charity.

The army this year was the newly released Convergence of Cyriss, which features a lot of clockwork and Art Deco stylings. I painted the Clockwork Angels, and was able to finish them relatively quickly despite getting a late start on the project by using simple and efficient techniques. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out, though, and look forward to seeing the photos of the entire completed armies.

June Painting

Saturday, July 16th, 2011

After being really busy in May with the move, I got back in the saddle in June and finished off several models.

First off, I finished up all the nearly-done Cryx I’d been sitting on:

Next up for Cryx is probably finishing off my (also nearly done) Bane Thralls. After that, I will have my choice of models with basically no paint on them.

Additionally, I got some work done on my smaller Gatorman force. I finished off my half-done Calaban, painted up a Bull Snapper, and finally got around to taking good pictures of Wrong Eye and Snapjaw.

I’ve been finding that I’ve really been enjoying painting giant gator monsters, probably more so than undead knights and mechanical monstrosities. Who knew?

Warmachine Painting

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

One of my hobbies is to play tabletop wargames. In addition to actually playing games against people, another important aspect is building and painting the (often intricate) models that make up your army. The main game I play at the moment is Warmachine, in which I play the evil undead faction known as Cryx.

I’m going to start posting here about minis, and to start off, I’m going to show the current paintedness of all of my figures.

To begin with, here are all of my fully painted figures:

These I have partially painted, but not yet finished:

And finally, these are either bare metal or only covered in primer:

Additionally, I have finished three of the figures shown above as partially painted – Mortenebra and her companion, Deryliss, and a Warwitch Siren:

I am particularly pleased at how my fire/lava effects came out looking MUCH better on these figures than any of my previous ones. This is thanks to me getting a couple of bottles of Formula P3 red and yellow inks.

Look forward to further updates as I am currently involved in a challenge to get a large (75 point) army fully painted by the end of September. I also have a few Gatormen which I hope to turn into a small Blindwater Congregation Minion force for Hordes, the Warmachine companion game, and I am looking at getting into Infinity, a sci-fi skirmish game by another company.
